How we built a centralized GL tagging framework to ensure audit-ready financial insights?
Unified data from three source systems into an analytics-ready asset on Azure Databricks, powering 80+ dynamic Power BI reports with 5x daily refresh - enabling scalable, near real-time Accounts Payable insights.
Challenge
The client’s Accounts Payable team was facing inefficiencies and visibility challenges due to a fragmented data across systems and manual reporting process. Key issues included:
- Disconnected Data Sources: Data related to procure-to-pay processes was spread across multiple platforms (e.g., invoice processing systems, ERP, treasury management systems), requiring excessive manual extraction and reconciliation.
- No Unified, Automated Reporting Framework: Without an integrated approach, reports were inconsistent, difficult to maintain, and time-consuming to produce.
- High Manual Effort and Limited Visibility: Manual reconciliation not only slowed reporting cycles but also limited leadership’s ability to gain real-time, actionable insights for decision-making.
Solution
Our team partnered with the client to design and deliver a modern, Azure Databricks-based data integration and analytics solution. The strategy included:
End-to-End Process Mapping
Mapped the procure-to-pay workflow to identify operational bottlenecks, reporting gaps, and opportunities for automation.
Centralized Data Integration
Ingested and unified data from Coupa, Oracle Fusion, and HazelTree into Azure Databricks to create a single source of truth for reporting.
Scalable Data Pipeline Development
Partnered with the Enterprise Data Engineering team to design and deploy scalable, automated data pipelines in Databricks, enabling efficient, high-volume data processing with minimal manual intervention. Performed validations to ensure efficiency.
Analytics Enablement
- Collaborated with Reporting Teams to design, validate, and optimize Power BI dashboards to deliver actionable insights.
- Adopted an iterative design process, incorporating business feedback to ensure dashboard relevance and usability.
Reference Architecture
